The Republic of Nowhereville

We finally made it to Republic, Washington after a long day of driving on Highway 20 and Highway 97.  It was a very curvy mountain drive up and down with many miles of 6% downhill grade on a 2 lane road.   Every time a logging truck or a double-trailer gravel truck past us on a tight curve, Kathe closed her eyes. Jim did very well without her help and we arrived at the Winchester RV Resort safely.

There is not much to say about the town of Republic.  Kathe and Jim went exploring and came back in 30 minutes. The main street was a drug store, a market, a couple of hardware stores, and 5 or 6 bars. Like I said, not much to do here.  We're okay with that because we are ready for a little relaxation.
Lake Curlew

There is a State Park about 5 miles down the road from here right on Lake Curlew.  We drove down to check it out and while the lake was beautiful, it was overpopulated with kids and families for the upcoming July 4th weekend.  We are glad we are staying where we are, it's quiet here and there are lots of trees and green lawns between the sites.

The Internet service is very POOR here and it is going to be very hard to blog tonight.  My pictures are somewhere lost in between my phone and my g-mail account.  And I can't get them into the blog. We have no TV! No Verizon service at all, and spotty AT&T service which is making it very difficult to communicate.  Guess Kathe and Jim will just have to talk to each other tonight.

My photo finally arrived! Here's my updated post.
