I'M DONE

So hot all day today. All I want to do is nap on the cool tile floor. It was hot last night in Las Vegas and now tonight in Barstow. The only time I go outside is very early in the morning or late in the afternoon. It's so hot you burn your paws, and you run/hop back inside as soon as you can.

This is the last time I will blog for this trip. Although it wasn't the trip we expected, we did have a lot of adventures. We camped in two of the most beautiful Canadian National Parks and spent some special days traveling in Canada. We saw a grizzly bear and her two cubs, and we spotted 2 black bears along the highway. At our campsite in Jasper National Park, we had tons of elk all around us for several days. We even saw a bald eagle in a nest with chicks in Montana. Even though our trip was shorter than we planned, and Warren was hurt, and we never made it to Alaska, but all in all we had a was great time.

These last few days have not been very much fun for any of us, too much driving and not enough sleep. We miss traveling with Warren and the drive has been especially hard for Kathy T. It's much more fun when we are all together. We are already planning another trip to Alaska next summer. The Kathies are going to alter the route and skip the part of Canada that we traveled this year. Stay tuned, one thing you can count on is that it will be an adventure.

TWO FOR ONE

Sorry about yesterday. It was a long drive with nothing along the way but lots of hay fields and cattle.  With road construction and a few stops for doggie comfort we didn't get into the Cedar Breaks RV Resort until late. It was supposed to be a Good Sam rated park, but someone at Good Sam must be on the take! The sites were awful, and the weeds were everywhere. The check-in people were rude, and they parked us as far away from each other as possible. They have a lot of nerve charging $87 a night for such a dirty, horrible place. Not ever going here again.

Anyway, that was yesterday and tonight we are in Las Vegas at the Oasis RV Park, beautiful, but it is HOT here. I think right now it's still about 107 degrees, and my paws are burning after my walk. At least we are together in a couple of really long pull-through spots. No fireworks allowed, but there are plenty all around us. Good thing my hearing isn't what it used to be. I'll be able to sleep through them.

It's always been our tradition to have barbecued ribs on the Fourth of July each summer. Warren cooks this specialty on the Trager with all the trimmings, but this year without him, Jim and the Kathies had to go out to Famous Dave's tonight. The next best thing.

The top picture is from the fantastic drive this afternoon through the Virgin River Gorge, Arizona to Neveda. The other picture is the horrible view from our site last night at Cedar City Resort.

NOT A GREAT DAY

It is getting so I can't even remember where we were yesterday, but we aren't there now anyway. Today we are in Provo, Utah and it was a terribly hard ride for all of us. The I-15 is so torn up and bumpy I just about jumped out of my fur each time I bounced in my crate. At one point there were 4 lanes of speeding cars going in and out of traffic, driving over 70 mph on either side and in between us. Who looks at the scenery when you are going so fast.

We finally made it here to the "Lakeside" RV Park and our two reserved pull through sites were not exactly as advertised. Jim had a hard time turning into our very narrow spot, but Kathy T. had an even more scary experience. First, she almost couldn't make the turn into the road where the site was located, and it took both Jim and Kathe to guide her in without having an incident with a big rock. Next, when she tried to turn into her assigned site, she couldn't turn sharp enough and had to stop to un-hook the tow car.  That's when we discovered that the battery was dead on the tow. With some help from a neighboring camper and some muscle they charged the battery enough to get the car unhooked. One thing after another on this day.

When AAA arrived, they said that the battery checked out okay, but the air conditioner and the power windows didn't work. Next, Jim went with Kathy T to AutoZone where they were told the air conditioning control module was fried. Looks like the car can still be towed, chalk it up to just one more adventure on this trip.

This picture is of the creek that runs behind the RV Park, no one wanted to walk to the Lake with me to take a picture. I'm the only one in this group with any energy left tonight.

MONTANA TO IDAHO

We traveled through Montana this morning and saw lots of hay being grown and stored. We wondered why we didn't see any livestock. A few miles down the highway we saw hundreds of cattle. Huge cattle ranches, one right after another. We did see some sheep, and a few heard of goats, but lots and lots of big black cattle.

Later as we crossed the border into Idaho, we saw nothing but potatoes in fields after fields. Amazing that we have been in Idaho many times and never saw potatoes growing. There sure were a lot of them.

Once we finally settled into the Buffalo Meadows RV Park, I started looking for the buffalo. Nope, nada, no such luck. What do you think I found? Tons of Fireworks! Turns out this place is on the Shoshone/Bannock reservation and there were no less than 5 giant tents selling all sorts of fireworks. I will be very happy to be somewhere else before they start celebrating the Fourth of July here. I hate fireworks and so do Bella and Gianni.

The humans went to the casino for dinner and to throw some money away this evening.

We leave first thing tomorrow and head to Provo, Utah.
